All about Matapalo Tour
Matapalo is a remote beach located 18 km outside of Puerto Jimenez, halfway to Corcovado National Park’s main entrance. Here you have the possibility to observe all 4 species of monkeys, sloths, coatis, a great variety of birds, among other incredible animals.
You can hike up to a waterfall in less than 15 minutes. This is an excellent choice for kids and adults that don’t want to hike long distances. It’s all flat and extremely beautiful.
You can choose if you want to include transport or if you want to use your own car (it’s not necessary to have a 4×4 car, a regular 4×2 can get you there).

05:45 a.m. Meet your guide in Puerto Jimenez.*
06:00 a.m. Depart towards Matapalo.
06:30 a.m. Start hiking.
8:30 a.m. Visit the waterfall.
11:30 a.m. Come back to the entrance of Matapalo.
12:00 p.m. End of tour.
* If already in Matapalo, the guide can meet you there. You may also choose to stay in Matapalo after the tour. For both of these options there is a small extra charge for the guide’s transportation.
