We start early in the morning in Puerto Jimenez and take the road towards Carate, crossing several rivers, cattle fields, and the exuberant forests of Matapalo.
Hike along the coast of La Leona-Sirena trail, after passing La Leona Ranger Station, through secondary forest and the gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean, you’ll find some of the most astonishing settings of the whole country.
Corcovado is home to thousands of species of plants and trees that sustain a great diversity of wildlife. Monkeys, anteaters, toucans, scarlet macaws, coatis, poison dart frogs, snakes, and with some luck even pumas or tapirs might appear on the way.

5:20 a.m. Meet with the guide at Hellen's Chill House in Puerto Jimenez (you can buy snacks and breakfast for the hike here).
5:30 a.m. Take a shared taxi from Puerto Jimenez to Carate.
7:30 a.m. Arrival at Carate. Begin walking 3.5 Km to get to the park’s entrance.
8:30 a.m. Register at the La Leona Ranger Station. Hike the Madrigal Trail.
10:00 a.m. Arrival at the Madrigal River. Hike the Cemetery Trail.
11:30 a.m. Hike back to Madrigal River and have Lunch (not included).
12:30 p.m. Hike back to La Leona and Carate.
1:30-2:00 p.m. Arrival at Carate and transportation back to Puerto Jimenez.*
3:30-4:00 p.m. Arrival at Puerto Jimenez. End of the tour.
