Corcovado One Day Tour (El Tigre)

Hike the most recently opened entrance to Corcovado National Park, Dos Brazos de Río Tigre. Visit the primary forest and some of the greatest views of the Golfo Dulce.

Dos Brazos de Río Tigre is a small town completely immerse in the forest. This place has a long history of gold-digging and hunting, but, thanks to ecotourism and community efforts, its inhabitants see a promising future. By visiting El Tigre you will support a local association with a direct impact on the community.

The hike begins in the town's communal center, right next to the school. You hike a total of 8 Km through primary forest and very irregular terrain. This is a tough hike recommended for experienced hikers.

The treat during this hike is a look-out point where you can enjoy the spectacular view of the Golfo Dulce.

You can choose if you want to include transport or if you want to use your own car (it's not necessary to have a 4x4 car, a regular 4x2 or automobile can get you there).

Day 1
El Tigre Trail Hiking

5:00-7:00 a.m. Meet with the guide at the bamboo building in Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre.*
7:30 a.m. Start hiking up the "Rompe Pechos".
10:00 a.m. Arrival to the look-out.
11:30 a.m. Break for Lunch (not included).
12:00-2:00 p.m. Arrival at El Tigre. End of the tour.

* You can choose at what time you prefer to start your tour.

  • 2-3 liters of water (single-use plastic bottles are not allowed inside national parks).
  • Snacks (mixed nuts, dry fruits, cereal/granola bars, and cookies).
  • Hiking shoes (protected, comfortable, and preferably waterproof).
  • Light and quick dry clothes, hat or cap and raincoat.
  • Passport (it can be a copy or a clear picture).
  • Sunblock.
  • Bug repellent.
  • Flashlight.
  • Waterproof bag.
  • Hiking backpack.

Optional:

  • Binoculars.
  • Camera.
  • Sunglasses.
  • Handkerchief.
